This sculptural guest book is crafted by a collective of Indigenous artists based in Chiapas. The cover is formed from handmade recycled paper and natural fibers, sculpted into a mask-like face with striking red textile insets for the eyes.
Each page inside is made from tree-free pulp—using plants, recycled materials, and natural dyes like cochineal and roots—and assembled entirely by hand. The result is a deeply tactile book that embodies both cultural legacy and environmental stewardship.
Perfect as a guest book, journal, or object of contemplation, each piece carries the cosmovisión—an ancestral worldview held by its makers that sees art, land, and story as inseparable.

About the Region
Handmade Paper and Indigenous Craft in Chiapas
In the highlands of Chiapas, handmade bookmaking is practiced with care, intention, and deep respect for the land. Using plants, natural fibers, and recycled materials, artisans create paper the traditional way—no trees are cut in the process. Pages are tinted with natural dyes made from roots, insects, minerals, and snails. Every book is crafted by hand and shaped by drawings, stories, and the worldviews of Indigenous communities across Chiapas and Oaxaca. Passed down over generations, this practice continues to grow—carried forward by artists who see each page as a space for remembering, creating, and sharing.
